PreschoolPlus & Transitional KindergartenPlus Childcare with a Preschool/Kindergarten Difference! As two-career parents, we've always struggled to find both good full-day childcare and a great education for our sons. We wanted an affordable program that provided both thoughtful loving care, while at the same time providing personalized, high-quality pre-school and kindergarten experiences.
With these experiences fresh in our minds, we developed PreschoolPlus & Transitional KindergartenPlus, a warm and caring 12-month child-care environment for your child, along with well-designed, high-quality pre-school and transitional kindergarten programs, as well as multi-themed Summer Camp adventures.
The PreschoolPlus/Transitional KindergartenPlus day is organized as follows:
7:00 - 8:45: Your child will be greeted by his/her early-morning teachers and given the opportunity to have breakfast and settle into their day with free play in our early-morning receiving classrooms. 8:45 - 9:00: Your child's pre-school or transitional kindergarten classroom teacher will bring them to their classroom where any array of center-based and table activities await. 9:00 - 11:30: A regular morning pre-school or kindergarten routine will be followed according to your child's age, including regular music instruction and daily, teacher-led movement class. 11:30 - 12:30: This is our lunch/recreation period. 12:30 - 2:30:For children 4 and under, this is rest period. Children who do not nap will be given quiet activities during this time. 12:30 - 2:30:For children 5 and over, afternoon program begins. Starting with circle time, we use the project approach to take children on an in-depth exploration of thematic subjects. Students are encouraged to think critically, solve problems, explore and share ideas, all while reinforcing basic skills. 1:30 - 2:30: Younger Pre-K students (4 year-old) will join with the older students and participate in our Art in the Afternoon Creative Art program, where they have the opportunity to learn about famous artists and experiment with different types of creative art. Children will also spend time in small groups on skills instruction in math, literacy, science and social studies. 2:30 - 5:00: Late afternoon program begins. We begin with circle time and a chance for everyone to talk about their day. We also introduce the theme for the afternoon. Afternoon activities include projects for the children, such as nature walks, arts and crafts, musical games, stories, art & science. Each age group will have the opportunity for 45 minutes to 1 hour of additional outdoor time. 5:00 - 6:30: Time in centers, which include housekeeping, building, story reading, toys and games.
In addition to our extended hours, PreschoolPlus children also enjoy our special camp week programs, both during the weeks that traditional preschools close--such as President's week and Spring Break week-- and during the summer as part of our multi-themed Summer Camp program . Children not enrolled in our PreschoolPlus/Kindergarten EnrichmentPlus programs are invited to attend these weeks, including any of our Summer Camp sessions, at an additional fee.
